Config option process_new_segments_from makes Piwik archiving process more resistant because standard archiving process won't take really long after adding a new segment (when it's set to segment_creation_time). I think that it would be useful to not archive historical data for segments also after editing segment's conditions because this basically means more or less that a new segment has been created.
