It would be really nice to let users "personalize" their Piwik by just changing one color. This color would change the dark gray background-color used in the menu and widget header. It would be a user setting I presume but a system setting has benefits as well. Maybe it'd be similar to the LeftMenu: There's a default system setting that affects all users, on top a super user can enable/disable users to change the color via a user setting.

We already have less variables to easily only change those 2 parts.

We'd need to show a color picker in the plugin settings. The Settings API does not support this currently

Similar to how Wordpress lets admins customise the color scheme: http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/wordpress-admin-color-scheme/ - i'm wondering whether one color will be enough or whether like WP, to make it look really nice, one has to customise several colors at once

I would keep it very simple and only let them pick one background-color, maybe a second one for font color (in case a light background-color was chosen). At least in a first version. If it's popular and people ask for more then we could still add more but don't think it's needed. The more it changes to more complex it gets, the more we have to test and maintain the different sets and the more likely it is that a suer doesn't like one of those sets. The point is that changing the menu and/or widget header has already such a visual effect that it more is not needed and is overdoing it.

Every time I see lots of work on visual or themes, I cry a bit... Look and UX are important but way less than data integrity (prevent stats poisonning), printing, percentages and features in general...

No one stopped using Piwik because we had round corners... ;)

Hi @gaumondp if there are any data integrity issue that we have not tackled, please comment in those issues. We care most about data integrity, security, privacy and would like to address such problems with highest priority.

I was referring to #588 when talking
about data integrity. And I'm happy it got "upgraded" to Major and short
term last March.

Would be a great 3.0 feature for sure !

This is a very good example of what I meant: Choosing one color, changing widget/menu header, maybe button/link color: http://www.getmdl.io/customize/index.html
