The goal of this issue is to discuss and ultimately implement a new feature in Piwik: Segment Sequence.

For example: let me create a Segment of users who did a given set of actions (eg. viewed Page X + Converted Goal Y + Did Event Z).

it's similar to Google analytics Segment Sequence.

(originally from #7177)

Segment Sequence is a powerful feature - it could help us implement "on demand" funnels where a user could define a Segment sequence ie. the pages within a conversion Funnel, and in real time request any report of users who were active in a particular funnel. (Goal funnel is discussed in #6080)

just do it. why not finished?

HI Mattab,

We are looking for this feature for long time. Can you please let us know is this in dev ?

Guys, I will be the lame one that remind you that Open Source needs resources to evolve.

You do have to scratch your itch and if the feature is important, adding pressure doesn't solve a single thing. OTOH, sponsoring development may greatly help you have a feature if you can't code for yourself.

See http://piwik.org/get-involved/ (get involved).

Just asking, @6080 mentioned in Piwik RoadMap that it will get released in sep 2015

Hi there,
thanks for recommending segment sequence as a feature that would meet our needs (#8450). I checked the roadmap http://piwik.org/roadmap/ but I couldn't find any reference to #7533 or segments. Is that already available? Or referred to under a different name?
Also how is the roadmap updated? are the projections from (today) or there should be a date on 'last updated'?

just found this, after opening a maybe similar one:
segment selector: usable for funnel analysis by respecting order of elements

enhancement of the great segment editor to respecting order of elements.
With this one could use it for concrete visitor way analysis and rough funnel analysis.

It's the same direction as the already implemented segments "entry page" and "exit page" work, but with a more general approach.

One idea how to implement this:

  • new checkbox for activating "respect order of segments"
  • when activated: switch "AND" => "THEN"

Note: the new Funnels premium plugin has just been launched, which can help you if you need Segment sequence. The premium Funnels plugin provides really powerful Conversion Funnels analytics directly in Piwik. Learn more & get the plugin in the Funnels Marketplace page. Check the Funnels User Guide and Funnels FAQ for more information. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Hello guys, is it still a missing feature?

I mean i want to segment visitors with this segment definition:

and it's still gives back nothing. And i have a user visit with these two events.
I see you created a funnel plugin, but it's work with goals, but i want to use with segments.

@mattab commented on October 19th 2017 Member

@zsoro2 Yes, the issue is opened so the feature is not yet implemented

I see you created a funnel plugin, but it's work with goals, but i want to use with segments.

Funnels are based on Goals, and can include "Segment" definition, but likely not what you need

Request from a user: We now want to compare which paths lead to more conversion value

  1. Customers ordering a free sample and then buying (ecommerce conversion with product price = 0 and then ecommerce conversion with product price > 0)
  2. Customers buying directly without ordering a free sample (visit with product price > 0, but without product price = 0)
