Task
Indicates an issue is neither a feature nor a bug and it's purely a "technical" change.
Milestone
Many times I was asked by users why the geo location of some users is wrong. Even here within the building where we work.
Wrong geo locations has usually 2 reasons:
I think we should more clearly advise people to install those providers for more accurate results. Otherwise it can lead to frustration (especially when noticing late that the results are wrong) or even worse users might just think Piwik does not work correct and do no longer use it again. I think this can be the case especially when users evaluate different analytics solutions.
The question is can we make it more clear that users should install a geo location provider and how.
We do already display a notice below the country report:
Maybe, as a first simple solution, we could do this as well below the City and Region report? Although I don't think this has a huge effect and might be rather annoying for users that are aware of this behaviour. So probably not a good solution.
I think the problem is rather for users that use the "Visitors in Real Time" and "Visitor Log" reports a lot but not the actual Location report. Maybe, we could append a message to the tooltip saying we guessed the location when a users is over a country flag / city / region? The problem is that we cannot directly link to the admin interface from there.
Maybe someone has a better idea or maybe it is not an actual issue?
