We often use the term "Browser archiving" when an archive is created that was not initiated via CLI/Cron. Eg by opening Piwik in the browser or by opening the Piwik Mobile app. They all make simple API calls which in the end causes the archiving. It is not necessarily the browser that causes it so this term is kinda wrong and can be confusing for many people. On the other side it might be easier to understand "Browser archiving" for some other people.

Maybe we could find a name here that would be clear for everyone and correct? Maybe something like "Real time archiving" or "On demand archiving" but don't find them so good either.

"On demand archiving" sounds good to me.

+1 for "on demand archiving".

If I run Cron every 5 minutes it looks like real time for my users. ;)
