I'm using Piwik on an WordPress multisite environment. In the Piwik environment it shows all the different websites, but the problem that it is still overwriting the website names (and doing that wrong).

The tracking itself seems correct, and every site has the correct Site ID. Also the data is coming in correctly at Piwik side, but the names in Piwik are not corresponding with the correct names of the websites. One name is used for several websites.

I already changed the names to the correct ones in the Website manager, but after a day or so, it is wrong again.

What could this be? On what conditions does Piwik decide the Website name (and change it)?

Hi @uprise10 please try upgrade to 2.7.0 where this bug should be fixed (at least, WP-Piwik will not create new extra websites). if you still have issue after please let me know here and i'll re-open.

Hi, I'm currently already on 2.7.0 ( I downloaded and installed Piwik last week form scratch).

The problem is not that extra websites are created, but that current, already existing, websites change from name (also after I edited them manually).

So imho the issue still stands?

The website ID's are correct, and are shown correctly in the source (see for example source of https://ictrecht.nl: http://upload.uprise.nl/1a77U or https://securityrecht.nl: http://upload.uprise.nl/NW2Z).

However instead of ictrecht as website name + url, it is showing Webwinkelrecht.nl (which is officially ID 2)

Can you try this:

  • update the website name to the correct names in Piwik
  • wait some time
  • are you seeing again the same problem?

I tried that, but after a while, slowly all sites are overwritten again, and finally "webwinkelrecht" stands the strongest :-)

Check you're using latest WP-Piwik and if you are please report a ticket in WP-Piwik and André may be able to help. This is I believe WP-Piwik issue.
