The goal of this issue is create a new file in the root of Piwik repository: PRIVACY.md - A plain English summary of all components within the repository which may affect Piwik user privacy. A single, standardised location to find out what's going on under the hood.

This was discussed initially in Ghost issue tracker here.

Steps

• Create PRIVACY.md file
• Slightly extend the scope proposed by Ghost, and documents the Privacy implications of using Piwik for two user profiles:
  • "Privacy for Piwik admins and website owners"
    • external services called by your Piwik server: the SEO widget calling Google+Bing+Majesticseo..., the Update check, the Marketplace checks. Though we do not use google fonts nor gravatar nor other JS loaded from CDNs (all the code necessary for Piwik is shipped in the release).
  • "Privacy for users being tracked by Piwik"
    • as a Piwik admin wanting to give tracked users more privacy: Privacy user guide
