Goal of this ticket

Inform Piwik plugin developers and other developers that we will now document all changes to the core platform in a new CHANGELOG.md file (located in the root of Piwik git repo).

Why communicating platform changes is so important?

Piwik is an evolving software and we want to help the developer community to build solutions quickly and maintain them easily.

Because we build the platform for the community, we must communicate all changes to the platform, especially improvements and updated APIs.

For example: the great APIs improvements in #5820 around dimensions are reports are mentionned in the changelog.

Notes:

  • we also aim to minimise Backward compatible breaks so that bugs are not introduced by us in the plugins ecosystem.
