After installing piwik ( everything was alright in the install script). I got the following page to see.
The Logout link is not working…

Piwik # open source web analytics

You are logged in as ‘’ but it seems you don’t have any permission set in Piwik.
Ask your Piwik administrator to give you ‘view’ access to a website.

```
Logout
  • Piwik homepage
  • Piwik demo
    ```

Same problem here, happens on my 1&1 hosting.
I can easily give access to a test-case if someone wants to debug this one.

Forgot to say, must be something wrong regarding mysql.
All tables are created OK, but they are ALL empty… the “piwik_site_url” table should have one entry after installation (http://example.org)

z3b, please send me by email your ftp or ssh information (matt at piwik.org) so I can try to find the problem on your host.

what server is it? (apache, IIS)
what other special configuration could you have?

Server is Apache, ‘classic’ shared 1&1 business host, no special config tweaks.
During install got a warning about php memory being 40M, but I doubt it has something to do with the bug. Mail with ftp account sent.

Matt, any news on this issue ?
I’m thrilled to install piwik on my main server.
Thanks for the hard work

I have exactly the same problem. I see this ticket has been created in May… looks like no one knows the answer… too bad I would have loved to give Piwik a try :(

i NEVER created the user anonymous (btw, that user doesn’t have a password!).

During installation I provided a admin name (“admin”) a password and a mail address. But nothing is in the database. I did not get an error message during install.

admin login is working, but “You are logged in as but it seems you don’t have any permission set in Piwik. Ask your Piwik administrator to give you ‘view’ access to a website.” The logout link IS working for me, but after a re-login i get the same message over and over :|

i have the same problem here, but i think i got the problem analysed. piwik requires at least mysql 4.1 (see the README).
on my server mysql 4.0.24 is installed (debian sarge default). when trying to install piwik, no error occurs but the database stays empty :(

I just installed 0.2.7 and the problem is the same…
anything I forgot??

Same thing here, i installed 0.2.7 with no modifications on a dedicated managed server via 1and1 and i get the same:

“You are logged in as but it seems you don’t have any permission set in Piwik. Ask your Piwik administrator to give you ‘view’ access to a website.”

i guess i should also note that i had to upload an htaccess file including the following text “AddType x-mapp-php5 .php” to make the installation go through.

i have little knowledge of webservers/php, but like the looks of piwik, can anyone help me?
