The Tibet Autonomous Region is a province-level autonomous region of the People's Republic of China.

It is NOT a country. So in the geo map, it should NOT be separated from China.

And it's even not a country level unit.

Thanks for the feedback. We know Tibet is not a country, but our map shows Tibet as a country nevertheless. This will not be changed. We hope you enjoy Piwik!

I just want to tell you that it may affect spreading of Piwik in China.
OK. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

Why won't this be changed?

see for example this link for some pointers why some people believe Tibet is (should be) a country http://freetibet.org/about/introduction-to-tibet

I understand the political debate. What I don't understand is why it matters. Even the EU recognizes Tibet as a part of China. As it stands, Piwik is using an outdated map. I will fix it and submit a PR, then it's up to the owner(s).

Please also notice that Hainan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hainan) is also missing from the China map.

@mattab:
What code is used for Tibet? It is not listed either in ISO 3166-1 or as territory in CLDR. It would be good to know what code is used as I guess our visitor statistics is now saved using these codes.

Would also be good to know if there are other regions on the map that do not follow normal country/region code standards.
