This was reported in the forums

I cannot reproduce so hopefully we can get access to server to test & reproduce and fix the issue.

Please comment if you see this error.

Me too! I get this error since 2.0, seems to be related to the executed command. I don't have SSH access, so no way to check this out.

Tested 2.2 on another VPS with SSH access, no problems there.

Error occurs when calling the archive tool for people without SSH access. Error output very similar to the one in the forums. "... does not seem to be pointing to a Piwik server. Response was 'Console ToolUsage: [command arguments"...

Can you check whether "register_argc_argv" is enabled in php.ini?

For instance by runningphp -i | grep "register_argc_argv"

@ichjetzthier please can you take a look at Thomas question as it would help us troubleshoot your problem: #5007

Hey. Sorry, must have overseen this one in my inbox.

As i don't have SSH-access, I used ini_get. "register_argc_argv" isn't set at all. Good or bad?

Piwik Console is not comaptible with CGI see forum post.

We display an error when executing console using CGI now and we try to find a non cgi binary when using CliMulti. Tried to make console / CronArchive / CliMulti / ... compatible with CGI but only with a lot of effort doable.
