Having the ability to track Google Adsense clicks on site. Having the ability to track what page the ad was clicked on, the type of ad, the time it was clicked on, colors of ad (if not an image), for starts.

I know this is something complicated to track, but would be a “great” addition to implement into Piwik. Imagine this plug in for sites like MySpace or Facebook. Those sites can share ad revenue among the other users who have created an account, if that user had a ad click on their own page.

Adsense tracking is already a feature in OpenX. Your revenue sharing model would be easier to implement on an open platform like OpenX.

I don’t think we should be duplicating effort, so what would the scope of this plugin be?

I only wish to know where webpage give me the best revenue, that’s all… if you know
(external) code to do this instead of including it in piwik, i accept ;)

An integrated click fraud blocker should also be considered. It might even help increase Piwik’s uptake.

Reports that would be really interesting:
- revenue per URL, per page Title
- revenue per referers (search engine, keywords, campaigns, websites, etc.)
- revenue per country

to do we could use OpenX click tracking mechanism, to get number of clicks on adsense ads.
then we would need to get average adsense revenue, either by scraping it from adsense UI (is there any existing script/library to do that?) or by extrapolating based on a user-submitted average CPM (which would lead to accuracy issues).

When building this plugin, it should be designed with other ad networks in mind, as this could work same for other popular ad networks.
