• cities are displayed on the map marker tooltip
• cities + region is displayed when you click on a particular visit (in right panel) then the city + region info is written in the top left panel
• google map/OSM : could be done in a plugin later

TODO:

• Display GPS coordinates

• can you reproduce the "Maps loads endlessly" on 2.0-beta3 on demo.piwik.org ?

tried to reproduce on demo.piwik.org.
The visitor profile can not be opened there - no link becomes visible on hover - hmm

tested both with he same browser (FF), on same machine, both this morning 7:20Uhr Germany

Hi hpvd,

by design the visitor profile is not available for anonymous users. That's why you cannot see it on demo.piwik.org. We noticed opening the profile is kinda slow and we create a new ticket for this: #4296. We already identified what causes it.

1. would be really comfortable if you do not have to click /move to hover anywhere
   (Map + Hover on highlighted Point or Visit)
   to see the city
   please have a look on the latest screenshot
   or/and maybe show on the location info
   -- if always from same city: "from New York, US"
   -- if from same country "from different cities, US"
   -- if from different countries "different countries"

2. could be usefull to use the map zoom to cover all locations as near as possible to see as many details as possible
   e.g. show only Germany if all visits are from this country

In dc49347: refs #4274 display the name of the city in visitor profile, or different cities in case someone visited the page from multiple cities within one country

Regarding map zoom: This would be awesome indeed. I remember we spent already a lot of time trying to get this working but was not that easy :( Created a ticket for this here: #4301#ticket . We will look into this another time.

Regarding cities:

• If city is unknown I display only the country name
• If city is known I display the name of the city in front of the country
• If user visited website from multiple cities within one country I display "different cities, Country" and the city names are displayed on hover (tooltip)
• If user visited website from multiple countries, all countries (and cities) are displayed one after another

Regarding gps coordinates: Where would you suggest to display them on hover? If the visitor comes from different cities, we already display the names of the cities on hover. Also there could be quite a lot of different gps coordinates (even per city). For instance mobile users... In this case it is hardly useful.

Maybe it is better to allow plugins in the future to display more information on the visitor profile so people who are interested in this can enable it.
