The new logo should consist of Picture + Text.

A good example is the Linux Mint logo: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5c/Linux_Mint_Official_Logo.svg

This way we can optionally just show the picture part and create nice shirts etc.

I am working on a plugin for Piwik (I'll come back to you guys when I have smth to show!) and fell on this ticket.
Is this open to anyone ?
Are there any rules to follow? I am afraid that changing the logo means much more than simply following the 4 bullet points defined in the description. (website will have to follow at least the colors, etc)

I've created for my Piwik instance these images to replace the default logo:

1. for dashboard

It is just a sketch, but I can create a detailed version of this logo (although I prefer the minimalism in graphics).

It took a long time for us to settle within the team, on this new logo.
We had many iterations of design. We believe it will greatly help Piwik brand. We like that this new logo is very simple and looks good when it is displayed in small size!

We hope most users will like it, but in any case it is always better than our previous 5-colors logo. thanks for your feedback!

I still find the new one looking too much "Comic Sans"...

Alxzaur proposition was way more "business" less hobbyistic looking and even possible to inverse the lettering if needed.

Reading other comments here makes me feel I was not alone.

Monochrome is better than 5-colors but frankly it is still not enough to make the brand look professional.

How about a simple poll? (let me predict 80% for Alxzaur's version at least)

Yes when I created the ticket we already picked the logo... We had some discussions internally, not everybody likes it, but in my experience, changing logos in a business or established project, is always rather complex thing to do. Hopefully this logo will be good enough to drive Piwik to its future, liberating web analytics data worldwide!

PS: we are thinking of adding a mascott, maybe animal, in the future... if you think of any particular animal or mascott that would be a good fit for Piwik, please comment!
