It might be indeed not optimal, that they are in the footer when the report is showing a lot entries.
Our product team will review and prioritize this issue...

They could be located at top + bottom of the reports OR using the "floating" position:sticky CSS property...

What is the feature you are missing the most in Matomo and why?
Answer:
The search for a specific page URL can be found in "Behaviour" at the bottom. I use this function very often. Scrolling takes a long time. This important function should be at the top of the filter options.

"Main actions are stuck to the bottom of de tag/trigger/variable overview. Again with 40+ tags this asks for some scrolling. Doing this one time is no problemo.. When a bigger analytics use case comes across and I need to add multiple tags in succession the scrolling becomes a bit more cumbersome"

It always bugged my editors to go to the bottom of data to change things. Most of their columns have way more than 5 or 10 items (lines) to show so they're always scrolling. Having access to gear icon near the name of the data is good UX!

When users uses Matomo reports, they complain about always having to scroll down then up...

Step to reproduce

I want to see (on demo site) the Page Location and Page Type for different segments (or date)

1. Go to https://demo.matomo.cloud/

2. Open the Behaviour menu, scroll down to see Page Location then click on this link
   
   Argh, I don't see the first lines of the table... 😥
3. Now I want to change or check the dimension (or date), so I have to scroll up! (because I don't see the dedicated dropdowns) 😢
4. OK, now I want to see the Page Type sub menu of Behaviour... I have to scroll down again😢
   
   And loose again top report lines and segmentation/date dropdowns... 😭

Maybe we don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater here.
There are many advantages to keeping the controls at the bottom. Including this is part of Matomo's brand. It could be fixed:
Now: footer of each report shows green icons OR nothing
Proposal: footer of each report shows green icons OR something that hints you into coming closer with the mouse:

A cloud customer has suggested the placement of these options the "Search" in particular, would be more intuitive if located at the top of the reports.

We wanted to know whether it would be possible to shift the search field to the top of the table as this would be more intuitive.
