I started my own painting business in 1991. As someone I had done painting in the past, I thought I knew everything about how to paint. I was wrong.

So exactly how much painting experience needs to start your own painting business? Below are the 10 main things you should know to become a successful house painter.

  1. You need to know important things like when and why use primers see this here.

Example: You cannot paint latex on Alqud (oil base) unless it was a "flat" brightness like wall paint. Otherwise, you will get "peeled."

Nor can you paint new alkings enamels on enamel finishes existing rents without priming with an enamel under primer (Go!). Otherwise, it will produce "chipped." A common error with the oldest alquista enamel carpentry.

  1. You need a system to do your preparation work quickly.

Example: For example, when you paint the walls, I will apply the first layer of paint before making my common plaster repairs of things such as holes, stress cracks, loose tape seams, etc. Thus knowing the walls and problems of problems appears more easily due to fresh paint.

  1. You must know the best time savings techniques or speed tips to earn the greatest amount of money for work. Things as simple as having a fan to quickly dry the walls and freshly painted roofs so you can keep cutting in the second layer.

  2. You need to know which paintings are the best to use. Once I find my favorite products, I stay with them because I know them well and how they work. In addition, I like to use brand leaders like Benjamin Moore. Brands of names that represent high quality for the owner. Cheap painting requires more effort and does not make your work so well after anyway.

  3. You should know how to make basic plaster or plaster repairs. Basic repairs such as loose tape lines, water damage fixation, etc. When Punt, I started my paint business, I didn't even know how to fix a hole in the wall caused by a door knob (a common repair).

  4. You need to know about spots lock. Stains such as water spots, ink spots, etc. that impregnate through latex finishes. Ignore spots cause bleeding. I use a simple spray product for inner barley that stops the ink and other dead points on its clues. It is called "Krylon Fusion". It dries to play in just one minute or two, even though it is based on solvents.

  5. You must know about the difficult colors to cover. Certain colors can take 3 or more layers to cover well and need to know what you can use to combat this and accelerate things. And even when I charge more for this too.

  6. You should know about spots and varnishing. Many painters cannot match stains correctly. You can do it easily if you know a single simple trick. Tinking and Barnishing New windows or carpentry is easy once it has done so.

In fact, it is easier and more fun than painting the windows and can obtain higher profits because most people are afraid to stain. (Remember, everyone thinks they know how to paint, right? But stains is another story!)

  1. You need to know effective advertising. A new painter cannot afford expensive advertising that does not always work well anyway. Place an advertisement of yellow pages can take 7 or 8 months to leave. It needs short, cheap and effective direct marketing secrets and alternative methods that obtain customers immediately as a clock when they need them.

  2. You must know about the estimate. Most new painters end up eating their work and leave a lot of money on the table. Especially in external offers. When you know how to effectively estimate all your work, you will earn a lot of money as a painter, guaranteed.
