When we use a report for example, the page url ones, it can show the total of the rows when clicked on the cog icon. The issue comes when we use in addition to that the search function in order to filter the page urls list, the total of the rows keep showing the total of all rows.

Summary

The idea of this feature would be to make the total count of only the page urls which are concerned by the filter.

Thanks for creating this issue @Chardonneaur . Maybe when a search is used, we would need to have another row "Totals matching search results" as there are equally use cases where you want to compare these numbers in comparison to the overall totals. Otherwise it's hard to know how these relate to overall numbers except for the percentage.

We have another request for this from a Matomo user.
At present they have to export the 'filtered' search results as a CSV/TSV file and then calculate the totals for the rows that match the search criteria.

Another user has requested this feature:

"With any table reports, the Totals row does not reflect filtering at all. For example, when I enlist all the visited pages on the website, the total row shows all visits. When I add "/en" to the search field to filter all the English language pages, the total row still shows the sum of all visits on ALL pages which is illogical and misleading. I had quite a few misunderstandings in my reports due to this until I realised what was wrong."

The same applies to those table reports where we compare a period to a previous one. The comparison doesn't get shown in the totals row. It only shows the initial period. It would be great if you could add this feature as it takes a lot of manual calculations as well.

Another request for the report totals to be dynamic. "When we filter a specific URL-pattern the sum still displays the entire website traffic totals".
