210226 15:49:51 [ERROR] mysqld got signal 11 ;
This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary
or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built,
or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.

We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help
diagnose the problem, but since we have already crashed,
something is definitely wrong and this may fail.

It is possible that mysqld could use up to
key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 467864 K  bytes of memory
Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

I can confirm the regular segfault after upgrading to 4.2 today.
For me it is this query:

This looks like a MariaDB bug to me, so I'm going to have a look at their bugtracker.

This seems to be https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-24953

As mentioned there, setting optimizer_max_sel_arg_weight to a value less than 16000 works around the crash. I set it to 15000 and can confirm the query mentioned above now works.

I guess this confirms that this is an issue outside of Matomo.

Many thanks for collecting that info for anyone stumbing across this issue.
