Did you set a custom parameter for query or category? If non of those are set it automatically resets to default site search params.

I noticed this is the case.
Maybe we need to show this in UI, instead of automatically resetting to default.

In my case I want to use sitesearch reports, but not by using the URL parameters. I use trackSiteSearch in custom tagging.
My workaround is setting both parameters for query and category to a bogus value.
