This allows us to track pageviews more easily and also allows the user to restore the same UI state by opening or sharing the URL.

For example

  • when using paging in MultiSites or VisitorLog
  • maybe when opening a subdatatable in a report
  • When pressing eg edit in Scheduled reports, Sites Manager, ...
  • etc

We won't be able to easily change this but it would be more like something to keep in mind when building new features. I guess it would be more natural when using Angular everywhere and also having the router etc but till then it will be a long way. So it might be better to instead of directly changing a component via JS only change the URL which then causes the actual component to change.
