It would be really, really conveninent if the “reporting part” of Piwik could be deployed alone, (ie. without the view part).

This way, the “reporting” part could run on a standard setup (ie a farm of load-balanced production servers), while the “viewing part” could be set up only on a more “private” box.

You don’t have to use the browswr interface. You’re overlooking the API. Check out the example at http://www.desktop-web-analytics.com/ — it’s a desktop Piwik client.

Hi there :-) Thanks for the quick reply !
However I quite don’t understand your point. It seems to me like the existence of such desktop clients (based on the API) is actually confirming my point.
Indeed, if someone were using this client, they probably wouldn’t need/want the web interface at all

My suggestion in this bug follow, I think the “Piwik should be modular” approach.

I’m still missing your point. In any case, re-architecting Piwik at this stage is a wontfix. See also tickets #386 and #471
